All Christian Counseling major students are required to complete 43 hours of General Education courses, 24 hours of Bible & Theology courses, 48 hours of Christian Counseling courses, 7 hours of Ministry Practicum courses, and 3 hours of Internship; totaling 125 hours. Upon completion of this degree the student will be thoroughly prepared to excel in social services, public/private industry or ministry.
The successful student will have been trained in general education, bible, psychology, and counseling from a Christian worldview and will be prepared to serve in administration, community relations, case management, human/social services, mental health services, ministry, or religious education. In addition, completion of this degree is a foundational step for individuals going onto further education at the master’s level in Counseling.
Degree Objectives
Graduates of the Christian Counseling Program will demonstrate spiritual formation, biblical and theological integration and a biblical worldview by clearly articulating Scripture and biblical principles in both formal and informal counseling and discipleship settings.
Graduates of the Christian Counseling Program will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of counseling theories and techniques and the ability to discern proper application of appropriate methods based on a person’s identified/perceived needs.
Graduates of the Christian Counseling Program will demonstrate their understanding and commitment to the counseling process by ministering to a struggling person until their problem is resolved.
