Board Chair

As Chairman of our Board of Trustees, Dr. Christian brings years of both pastoral and educational experience to the Trustees of Northeastern Baptist College. He has served as a pastor in several states and in Europe, as a professor of systematic and pastoral theology, dean of students, director of a Baptist seminary, author, conference speaker, and on several denominational boards and committees. He brings a valuable balance of strong academic excellence coupled with practical ministry experience to our Trustee Board. Dr. Christian holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and two Doctorate degrees. He is the husband of Judy and father of two adult children: Trina and Marcus. Tim loves being a granddad.



Doug Echols

Dr. Echols brings a balance of Education and Ministry Experience to the Board of Trustees of Northeastern Baptist College. He holds a BA of Business Administration, an M Div. and a D.Min. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as Trustee of Lifeway Christian Resources, Vice President of the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia, on The Executive Committee, and on the Committee on Nominations for the Southern Baptist Convention. Doug pastors the Bethel Baptist Church of Yorktown, Virginia. He is married to Christy and the couple have two daughters, Kayla and Alyssa.



Randy Knepper

As a member of the Board of Trustees at Northeastern Baptist College, Randy Knepper brings many years of faithful service and experience both in ministry and in the secular world. Randy’s service includes Vice Chairman of the Florida Baptist Witness Board of Directors, the Southern Baptist Convention’s Committee on Nominations, Trustee for LifeWay Christian Resources where he served as Chairman of the Investment Committee and on the Broadman & Holman Publishers Committee, Second Vice President of the Florida Baptist Convention, and more. In the secular world, Randy Knepper has served as President and CEO of Heritage Bank, Executive Officer or Director of several additional Banking firms in multiple counties in Florida. He served over a decade as an Administrative Assistant and Chief of Staff to a United States Congressman on Capitol Hill, and while there was elected by his peers to serve two consecutive terms as President of the prestigious U.S. House of Representatives Administrative Assistants Association. Randy Knepper brings a wealth of spiritual and secular experience to our Board of Trustees at Northeastern Baptist College.



Ron Poitras

Combining a heart for the lost with multiple leadership qualities, Mr. Poitras brings a unique blend of business and ministry experience to the Board of Trustees. Having received the nationally recognized Northeast Shingo Prize (Gold Level, 2007), Ron is the Manufacturing Manager overseeing Operations and RF Systems for BAE Systems. Along with various managerial duties, he is currently working to transform the RF Systems Manufacturing business into a world-class operation. Additionally Ron serves as the Associate Pastor and Worship Leader for Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Ron shares his love for the Lord with the lost, seekers and Christians alike through various ministries in and outside of the church including preaching the Gospel, community outreach, pastoral counseling, music and personal evangelization. Ron and his wife, Candi, have two children, Josh and Bekah.



Stephen Rummage

Dr. Stephen Nelson Rummage brings a wealth of experience and wisdom as a Trustee for Northeastern Baptist College. He is a recognized leader in ministry, academics, and Baptist denominational life. He has served as the Second Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, and as President of the Florida Baptist Pastor’s Conference. Currently, he serves as the Senior Pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church of Brandon Florida. Stephen has held pastorates in North Carolina, Louisiana, and Virginia. He is a frequent guest speaker for churches and conferences across the United States, and has served as Professor of Preaching, as well as, Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at SEBTS. Dr. Rummage holds a BA, M.Div., and Ph.D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has authored and co-authored several widely used books. Stephen has led and participated in multiple foreign mission trips including Thailand, Malaysia, Gujarat, India, Central America, The Caribbean, Kazakhstan, and Romania. He also has helped establish a church in the Northeast region, and helped send a mission team to NEBC. Stephen is married to Michele and the couple have a son, Joshua.



Ron Smith

Mr. Smith brings his business expertise as President of MGW Communications, Inc., a telecommunications service provider, to the Board of Trustees of Northeastern Baptist College. This expertise, combined with a passion for local and overseas missions make Ron a valuable Trustee member. Ron serves his local church as a deacon and adult men’s Sunday school teacher as well as his community in several capacities including serving as past member of the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation. Recently, Ron was elected Director Emeritus to the Board. Ron has a heart for and supported missions for many years, but a trip to work with SBC Disaster Relief after Miami’s Hurricane Andrew changed his heart forever. The victims of the storm not only needed physical and financial help, but they needed someone to show them the love of Jesus. This passion for missions grew exponentially following several trips to Zambia. As Ron moves toward retirement, he and his wife, Bonnie, look forward to increasing their time spent on mission projects desiring to work from their “Jerusalem to the uttermost parts of the Earth.” Ron and Bonnie have two children, Craig and Cynthia.



Phil Waldrep

Rev. Phil Waldrep brings extensive evangelistic and ministry experience to our Board of Trustees. He is well known for his conferences and prominent books which have received various endorsements. Furthermore, Dr. Waldrep was presented the Medal of Honor by the State of Alabama for his notable work with seniors and he has served on the board of directors for the Morgan County Schools Foundation in Alabama. Phil and his wife Debbie have two daughters, Maegan Schwindling and Melodi Waldrep, and a granddaughter Emory.
