Phil Waldrep, full-time Southern Baptist Evangelist, is the Chairman of our Board of Trustees. His gifted leadership, honed through years of effective evangelistic and ministry experience, guides the Board of Trustees with administrative excellence. He is well known for his conferences and books, and his passion for spiritual renewal in New England. Phil was presented the Medal of Honor by the State of Alabama for his notable work with seniors. He has also served on the board of directors for the Morgan County Schools Foundation in Alabama. Phil and his wife Debbie have two daughters. They live in Decatur, Alabama.
Dr. Echols brings a balance of Education and Ministry experience to the Board of Trustees. He holds a BA in Business Administration, and an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as a Trustee of Lifeway Christian Resources, Vice President of the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia, and on the Committee on Nominations for the Southern Baptist Convention. Doug pastors the Bethel Baptist Church of Yorktown, Virginia. He and his wife, Christy, have two daughters.
Randy Knepper brings many years of faithful service and experience both in ministry and in the secular world to the Board of Trustees. Randy’s service includes Vice Chairman of the Florida Baptist Witness Board of Directors, the Southern Baptist Convention’s Committee on Nominations, Trustee for LifeWay Christian Resources where he served as Chairman of the Investment Committee and on the Broadman & Holman Publishers Committee, Second Vice President of the Florida Baptist Convention, and more. In the secular world, Randy Knepper has served as President and CEO of Heritage Bank, as well as Executive Officer or Director of several additional Banking firms in multiple Florida counties. He served over a decade as an Administrative Assistant and Chief of Staff to a United States Congressman on Capitol Hill. While there he was elected by his peers to serve two consecutive terms as President of the prestigious U.S. House of Representatives Administrative Assistants Association. Mr. Knepper and his wife, Penny, have two children. They live in Fleming Island, Florida.
Ron Poitras brings a unique blend of business and ministry experience to the Board of Trustees. He spent many successful years in manufacturing management. In 2007 Mr. Poitras received the nationally recognized Northeast Shingo Prize (Gold Level). Ron now serves as the Administrator and Associate Pastor for Connections at Calvary Bible Church in Derry, NH. Ron shares his love for the Lord with the lost, seekers, and Christians alike through various ministries in and outside of the church including preaching, community outreach, pastoral counseling, music, and personal evangelization. Ron and his wife, Candi, have two children and live in Derry, NH.
Stephen Nelson Rummage brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to our Board of Trustees. He is a recognized leader in ministry, academics, and Baptist denominational life. He served as a Second Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, President of the Florida Baptist Pastor’s Conference, and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Currently, he is the Senior Pastor of the Bell Shoals Baptist Church Brandon, Florida, leading the church to establish multiple campuses in the Tampa region. Stephen previously pastored in Louisiana, Virginia, and North Carolina. He is a frequent guest speaker for churches and conferences across the United States. He was Professor of Preaching and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC. Stephen earned a BA, M.Div., and PhD from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is author and co-authored several widely used textbooks, commentaries, and ministry tools. His radio program, Moving Forward, broadcasts his preaching nationally on the Moody Network and on Satellite radio. Stephen has led and participated in multiple mission trips across the US and around the globe. He also has helped establish a church in the Northeast, and helped send mission teams to NEBC. Stephen and his wife, Michele, have one son and make their home in Brandon, FL.
Mr. Smith brings his business expertise as President of MGW Communications, Inc., a telecommunications service provider, to the Board of Trustees. This expertise, combined with a passion for local and overseas missions make Ron an invaluable Trustee. Ron serves his local church as a deacon and adult men’s Sunday school teacher, as well as his community in several capacities, including serving as past member of the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation. Recently, Ron was elected Director Emeritus to the Board. Ron has a heart for, and has supported missions for many years, but a trip to work with SBC Disaster Relief after Miami’s Hurricane Andrew changed his heart forever. The storm victims not only needed physical and financial help, they needed someone to show them Jesus’ love. His passion for missions grew exponentially following several trips to Zambia. As Ron moves toward retirement, he and his wife, Bonnie, look forward to increasing their time spent on mission projects desiring to work from their “Jerusalem to the uttermost parts of the Earth.” Ron and Bonnie have two children, and make their home in Deerfield, VA.
